About Health & Human Services

About Us

The UNCW College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) was established in 2010 to make a positive impact on the health and quality of life of residents in the state of North Carolina and beyond. Our goal is to help individuals, families and communities live healthier, more prosperous and empowered lives.

We strive to accomplish this through excellence in teaching, scholarship and service. Faculty, staff and students in the CHHS are passionate about the enhancement of health and quality of life, especially within the underserved communities in Southeastern North Carolina.

 

The CHHS consists of three professional schools:

These schools offer nationally accredited programs of study in nursing, clinical research and product development, social work, athletic training, exercise science, gerontology, public health, healthcare administration, healthful living and fitness education, physical education and health, recreation therapy, respiratory therapy and tourism, recreation and sport.

CHHS Commitment

The College of Health and Human Services supports all our students. We are committed to providing our students, faculty and staff the opportunity to learn and work in an environment that is rich in academic pursuits, research and community outreach initiatives, philosophical perspectives and culture.

We believe that by cultivating an atmosphere of that treats all people equally and engaging in broad discussions within the College, we better prepare our students for the world that they will be called upon to serve in the health and human services.

When we embrace the full range of backgrounds of our students, faculty and staff, we enrich the quality of everything we do, both within the CHHS and beyond.

To this end, the CHHS seeks to cultivate a welcoming and inclusive community through actively fostering, encouraging and promoting mutual respect, acceptance and open-mindedness among students, faculty, staff and the broader community.
