IFC Formal Recruitment

IFC hosts a structured recruitment process in the Fall. The structured recruitment process allows you the opportunity to meet each organization. It has a defined start and end date with a kick-off event and a bid day. Registration is required in order to be eligible to accept a bid. This includes paying the $20 recruitment registration fee.

While you may receive a bid at any point, Potential New Members (PNMs) cannot formally accept bids until the designated Bid Signing day. This is to allow PNMs the opportunity to fully explore their options before making a decision on membership. 

Fall 2026 Recruitment

• June 1 - Registration opens (link to register will be shared once live)
• August 20 - Fraternity and Sorority Life's Meet the Greeks
• August 21 - IFC Recruitment Event (open to all registrants)
• August 22 - September 6 - Individual chapter recruitment events 
• September 9 - Bid Signing Day

All new members accepting bids will be expected to complete a New Member Confirmation Form with our office. 

Informal Recruitment

IFC does not host a formal recruitment process in the Spring. Informal recruitment timelines and processes are unique to each individual chapter.

If you are interested in joining an IFC chapter through an informal recruitment process, contact the individual chapter directly. You can also fill out this Interest Form to have your name and information shared with all IFC organizations.

Spring 2027 Recruitment

Details about Spring 2027 recruitment opportunities will be posted at the end of the fall semester.

All new members accepting bids will be expected to complete a New Member Confirmation Form with our office.

NPHC's joining process is called intake. Our NPHC organizations host membership intake after national/regional office approval. 

Black Greek 101

Black Greek 101 is an informational program held each semester, where you can learn about the NPHC community and each chapter. You will meet current members and alumni and have the chance to ask questions about the organizations. Once you've determined which organization you are interested in joining, you should take the time to research the organization, attend their programs, and introduce yourself to the members.

Primary Recruitment

Primary Recruitment will take place September 2 - September 8. All potential new members (PNMs) must be present in-person for the full recruitment schedule. 

• September 2 - PNM Orientation 
• September 3 & 4 - Academic Round (asynchronous, virtual)
• September 5 - Philanthropy Round
• September 6 - Sisterhood Round
• September 7 - Preference Round
• September 8 - Bid Day

Registration is required to participate, including payment of registration fee. A detailed schedule will be available to registered participants. 

Registration Fee:  $70.00, paid by the start of the academic round. *Please note that ALL registration fees are non-refundable.

A Recruitment Booklet will be posted once registration goes live. This booklet will provide more details about the recruitment process and the Panhellenic chapters including finances/dues information, attire suggestions for recruitment events, and more.

Continuous Open Bidding

Some Panhellenic sororities will conduct Continuous Open Bidding (COB) following Primary Recruitment in the Fall and in the Spring. Not all chapters participate in COB annually. Each chapter's COB process is individual and unique. Contact our office or an individual chapter to learn more about COB.

You can fill out this Interest Form to have you name and information shared with all groups conducting COB.

The recruitment process for the United Greek Council (UGC) primarily takes place at the beginning of each semester with each chapter coordinating their own process. 

Once you have determined which chapter you are interested in joining you should take the time to research the organization, attend their programs, and introduce yourself to the members. Check out the chapters' Instagram pages to learn more about their members and events.

1. Academic Standing: Most fraternities and sororities require a minimum grade point average (GPA) for prospective members. The specific GPA requirement can vary, but it is typically around a 2.5-3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Some organizations may also require a minimum number of completed credit hours.
   
   
2. Enrollment Status: To join a fraternity or sorority at UNCW, you must be a full-time enrolled student at UNCW.
   • CFCC students are not eligible for membership with any UNCW social fraternity or sorority.
     
3. Financial Obligations: Each organization has specific membership fees, which cover various expenses such as chapter operations, events, and philanthropic activities. Prospective members should be prepared to meet these financial obligations. Some organizations offer payment plans or financial assistance options.
   
   
4. Conduct and Character: UNCW chapters value members who display good character and demonstrate responsible behavior. There may be character references or background checks as part of the membership process. A record of academic or disciplinary infractions could affect eligibility.

It is important to note that these requirements are general guidelines, and there can be variations depending on the specific council or chapter.
